About Me:
Zhiyi Chen is a Masters student and mentee in Biomedical Engineering in the BIG IDEAs Lab at Duke University. She earned her B.S. in Bioengineering from Southwest Jiaotong University and focuses on health data science, with a particular interest in personalized glycemic response modeling using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data. Zhiyi is currently exploring potential research directions, with the broader goal of developing data-driven approaches that make metabolic health insights more precise and individualized.
Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking something new on the weekends and taking neighborhood walks, depending on the weather. Fun fact: she can ride a unicycle. Fueled by iced lattes and inspired by Katalin Karikó, Zhiyi approaches research with careful analysis - an energy captured well by the “thinking face” emoji. When working through complex problems, she prefers white noise to stay focused. She celebrates wins by traveling with friends, and hopes one day to have a pet snake.
