About Me:
Shreya Chindepalli is a Masters student and mentee in the BIG IDEAs Lab at Duke University. She earned her B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Arlington and focuses on the computational analysis of longitudinal shotgun metagenomic datasets to study gut microbiome composition in relation to subclinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Shreya is currently developing hypothesis-driven statistical models to explore associations between selected gut microbial taxa and subclinical ASCVD in a longitudinal cohort, with the broader goal of uncovering microbial patterns that inform early cardiovascular risk detection.
Outside the lab, she enjoys long runs and brunches with friends and can probably be found relaxing at home. Fun fact: she loves pairing hikes with pastry stops. Fueled by iced mochas and often listening to One Direction during deep work sessions, Shreya approaches research with curiosity and persistence. Guided by the advice, “Don’t let ‘what if I fail?’ become ‘I wish I had,’” she hopes one day to complete all six World Marathon Majors.
