About Me:

Rae Wang is a Masters student and mentee in the BIG IDEAs Lab at Duke University. She is pursuing her Master’s in Biomedical Engineering and focuses on using wearable physiological data to detect infectious diseases early and non-invasively. Rae is currently contributing to the InfectionWatch project, with the broader goal of advancing wearable health technology for timely and accessible disease detection.

Outside the lab, she enjoys fishing by a pond or lake. Fun fact: she started practicing Tai Chi in high school. Fueled by peppermint lattes and inspired by Jane Goodall, Rae approaches research with curiosity and quiet determination. When working through data, she often listens to Mozart’s K.448, which some studies suggest may support focus and cognitive performance. She usually celebrates wins with a warm meal of hotpot.
