About Me:

Leeor Hershkovich is a fourth-year PhD candidate in the BIG IDEAs Lab at Duke University, where his research centers on diabetes detection and addressing missing data in wearable technologies. He earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida, with a minor in Computer Science, and brings a strong computational and systems-level perspective to digital health research. His work focuses on creating accessible diabetes screening tools using risk factors and physiologic signals captured by wearable devices, evaluating the impact of blood glucose on the electrical activity of the heart, and developing methods to characterize and handle missing data in wearable datasets.

Leeor is currently leading and contributing to several projects, including Diabetes Watch and DiabetesWatch2. He also works on FOMO (Functions for Optimizing Missing Observations), building tools to better describe and manage missingness in wearable device data.

An Apple Watch user for its sensor accuracy and seamless phone integration (battery life critiques included), Leeor fuels his research days with a cortado and can most likely be found outside the lab trying a new coffee shop. When deep in analysis, Joji’s SMITHEREENS sets the tone. On weekends, he enjoys hiking with his dogs or playing disc golf, and he celebrates wins, big or small, with carrot cake.
