About Me:

Duncan MacKenzie is a medical student and mentee in the BIG IDEAs Lab at Duke University. He earned his B.S. and M.S. from The Ohio State University and focuses on wearables for predicting opioid use relapse, with broader interests in medical devices and cardiology. Duncan is currently working on wearable-based approaches to detect early signals of opioid use relapse, with the broader goal of improving timely intervention and patient outcomes.

Outside the lab, he enjoys playing ice hockey and can most often be found in the hospital. Fun fact: he used to be his college’s mascot. Fueled by coffee and guided by the ambition to continually grow as a clinician and researcher, Duncan hopes one day to travel to all seven continents.
