“Can Wearables Make Diabetes Management Easier?”

Can Wearables Make Diabetes Management Easier?

It’s always cool to see our lab’s work featured on the Duke University Center for Computational and Digital Health Innovation website!

The pilot study featured here, led by Dr. Jessilyn Dunn, Lauren Lederer, and Shekh Md Mahmudul Islam, Ph.D., explores how everyday wearable devices, like smartwatches, can move beyond fitness tracking to provide meaningful insights into glycemic health. By combining continuous physiological data with machine learning, we’re working toward more accessible, non-invasive approaches to monitoring and managing diabetes.

With millions of people living with (or at risk for) diabetes, scalable and proactive solutions are more important than ever. Wearables offer the potential to shift care from reactive to continuous, personalized management. Proud of this team and excited for what’s ahead!
